Last Word List

Writing a list is a good way to give your readers valuable information they can use and take away from the blog.  Your job is to select an angle for your list post that relates to your blog topic:  a list of examples, important products/places/people, what to do OR not to do, etc.  Be creative, have fun and do a bit of research about your topic to see what you can find to help create your list.  Your list should be an original angle and should include the following:

  • A title that catches the angle of your post
  • At least 5 and no more than 10 items
  • Clearly numbered/labeled items that are parallel in type
  • Provide relatable examples or valuable take-away explanations for each item, that show how/why it made your list
  • Show some logical order/organization (alphabetical, chronological importance, etc) based upon the angle you chose
  • Be grammatical, proofread for errors and easy to read/scan for readers.

  1. 5 Qualities That Will Make You A Great Server

Many people get a job as a server for the sole purpose of making a lot of money. As a server you can collect a lot of tips, but those tips will not come if you are not a good server. What qualities make a server a great one? Here are the important qualities every server should have and if you do you will have no problem racking in those tips.

    ~ Stress Management
Being is a server is not easy. No matter where you work the restaurant will hit a peak time and things will get chaotic. It is important to stay calm and have a positive attitude with each of your tables and your fellow employees. Having a positive attitude alone will make customers tip a little extra.

    ~ People Oriented
If you do not like talking to people or do not have good people talking skills than maybe being a server is not the job for you. Immediately when you approach a table a server should present a friendly and upbeat attitude. Engage conversation with the customers and that is a big way to stand out from other servers.

    ~Quick Thinkers
Something will always go wrong on every shift. As a server you need to react quickly if a table has an issue or cover up the mistake you made. For example if a table orders a side of bacon with their meal and you left it in the kitchen reply with “Yes the cooks are preparing that right now for you, let me go check that.” Also if something that the customer ordered is not correct than you need to give them an answer right away on how that will be fixed.

    ~Knowledgeable
One of the most important qualities of a server is to know the menu and about the products that restaurant sells. If I am ordering food and I ask you a question about what all comes on this sandwich and you don’t know then immediately I think you don't know how to do your job. I will not tip you if you can't answer my questions.

    ~Anticipation
It is annoying for everyone when a server keeps coming to the table asking if they can get you a refill or napkins or anything like that. In order to be a good server you need to anticipate that the table needs something. If someone is out of coke in their class and you notice it just bring out another one right away. Also do not make your table wait around for the bill.

Of course to be a good server you will need more qualities than just the ones listed above. If you want to leave your shift with a pocket full of cash than know your menu, stay calm and act like you are excited to serve each table in stressful moments, think fast when there's a problem, and don't leave it up to the table to let you know they need something.

    1. My blog was all about being a server. I decided to make a list of good qualities you should have if you are a server. This is appropriate to my topic, because many people want to be a server, but not everyone should be.
I decided not to number or put my list in any particular order, because no quality is better than the other. Every server should have all those qualities equally in order to be great. This worked, because not putting them in a specific order it shows the reader that each one is as important as the last.
I hope readers take away from this that being a server is great with getting all the tips, but it is hard to actually make those tips. This post is helpful to those who want to be a server and tells them how.
I think blogging is good. It takes away maybe some frustration you have about your topic or allows you to brag about it, because you’re an expert. If i were to change it I would let people pick their groups because it makes it easier for them to write what they want to write about.

  2. What to do as a Hostess

Many people who jump into the restaurant job force struggle because they don’t know exactly what to do. As a hostess there is a lot of important things to keep in mind especially if you’re training for the job. This list is for those people who struggle or may not know all the basics in being a successful hostess.

    1) Greet customers in a friendly tone

You’re the first person that customers see when they walk in. So, it is important for you to greet them nicely, because they can easily walk out and then you lose a customer for the restaurant. It also helps set the tone and mood for them that night.

    2) Ask the customers how many people their party will have

This helps you as a hostess/host because then you will have an idea of where to seat them at and how many materials you will need to bring out. This is actually also a hostess/host requirement because you need to know how many people there will be in order to seat them in the first place.

    3) Grab the menus, napkins, and silverware

This is the materials that you will need to give out to the customers as you seat them. This also gives them a chance to look over the menu more before their server comes to take their orders.

    4) Lead the party to the desired table

People need to be seated in order to eat. So this is important because then they can be comfortable and actually be seated at a table as they wait for their server.

    5) Set down the menus, silverware, and napkins at the table

This makes everything more organized for the people and so they can get their menus right away. Also it looks more clean and friendly because you’re actually handing the materials out rather than giving it to the customers, it shows courtesy.

    6) Write down the table number under the next server's name at the host desk

This is vital because writing down the table numbers are what keeps the whole restaurant under control. It’s also fair to all the servers because it spreads out all the tables and keeps things at a controlled pace. This is also important because it also helps the servers out if it’s gets busy and they forgot what tables they have.

    7) Alert that server that they have that particular table

Servers won’t necessarily know the exact table they have so it’s important you tell them. It also keeps things organized as well and running fast and smoothly.

    1. My blog was all about being a hostess. I think I did a good job with expressing my ideas and being professional. For this particular blog post, I feel like I could have said some more things in my intro paragraph to give it more meat. But otherwise I feel like I included everything I needed to and that every idea was expressed well.

Top 5 best ATVs for drag racing

Number 5 is the Suzuki LTR 450. It comes with significantly more power from the factory than other 450’s. The lack of parts that are made for the LTR is a big disadvantage though. Since there are other more popular atv brands used by professionals like Honda and Yamaha. In other words, this is a great atv that would be competitive with other atvs that are only slightly modified.
Number 4 would be the Yamaha YFZ 450r. This atv is a great atv to build up for competition against others with its fuel injection system, that you can buy different fuel management computers for. However, in stock form, this atv has the lowest horsepower numbers in the entire 450cc class. So if you are choosing this atv to race you better plan on buying lots of aftermarket performance parts for it.
Number 3 best atv to use drag racing is the Honda 450r. This machine is already an animal in stock form. Once you start adding performance parts into it, it becomes almost unbelieveable. This atv pulls hard in all 5 gears especially in the high rpms. It is probably the highest chosen 450cc atv by professional racers and also recreational riders. This atv puts up a fight to the 700cc atvs which is very impressive. The only thing that could make this atv better is if they made a version of it with a slightly bigger motor.
Number 2 fastest atv is the Yamaha Raptor 700 which has the highest factory cubic centimeter engine in the sport atv industry, next to the Honda 700xx and the Kawasaki KFX 700. This atv is a beast once you start adding performance parts to it. There is a combination of parts called the big 3 which includes an open air box, exhaust system, and a fuel programmer. This combination of parts added will give huge horsepower gains. One down fall for this atv is that in stock form, it only pulls hard in the lower rpms and falls on its face about halfway through each gear. But that can change once you start modifying.
The number 1 fastest atv is the Honda 700xx which produces crazy horsepower numbers stock right from the factory. This atv has fantastic potential when parts start getting thrown at it. Adding a fuel programmer like a power commander, will allow you to adjust engine timing and air fuel ratio changes to tune your atv to be the fastest it can be. This atv with its big 700cc powerplant makes it a great drag racing atv.

    1. After looking at the pros and cons on all of the most popular sport racing atvs. I have found that The Honda 700xx is the best choice if you want to have the fastest drag racing atv. In my blog I went in order from the worst "number 5" to the best "number 1" atv used for drag racing. I hope readers looking for an atv, that want to use it in a drag racing situation will look at my blog and use the information I have provided, so that they will make the right choice to be the most competitive. I think blog writing is something I would like to do if it is about something that I enjoy like atvs.

  4. Greatest Soccer Player of All Time

In every sport there is always that one question, who is the best player of all time. This topic is always debated and there never seems to be a clear candidate that everyone comes to agree on. In soccer, the same can be said. There are so many great players to have played the game. In my blog, I will be writing a list of who I think are the best soccer players ever and why I think that. I will be starting from the fifth best player ever, all the way down to number one.

At number five is a player from France who won Fifa world player of the year three times and won the ballon d’or in 1998 and also leading France to a world cup victory in the same year. Zinedine Zidane is known for his master dribbling skills used to humiliate other players on the field. From 1988 to 2006 Zidane scored 144 goals and 92 assist, his exit from soccer was a tragedy to fans around the world.

At number four is Diego Maradona from Argentina. He is known for his amazing dribbling, he could get past four or five players and then chip the ball over the keeper. In 1986 he single handedly led Argentina to a victory in the world cup and won best player in the tournament. Then, in 1989 he won led Napoli to a UEFA Europa League. In his career he scored over 300 goals and considered one of the best players of all time behind Pele.

At number three is Cristiano Ronaldo from Portugal. In his career so far, he is the only player to score more than 50 goals in five different seasons. Most hat tricks in spanish football with 36. He has the most goals scored in champions league history with 90. He can header the ball, has amazing dribbling skills, best penalty shooter and one of the most athletic soccer players of all time. He has won the ballon d’or two times which is an award given out to the best soccer player in Europe. In his entire career he has scored 534 goals with 178 assist in 788 appearances.

At number two is Pele from Brazil, it has been highly debated over the past years if Pele is the best soccer player in the world and there is a good reason for it. He has won the world cup three times! That is a huge accomplishment because it is very hard to win just one. In his career he scored 535 goals! He played most of his career in Brazil and he won the Brazilian championship six times. Pele had an amazing shot and a brilliant soccer mind to make him one of best goal scorers of all time.

Finally number one is a 5 foot 7 player from Argentina, who has won the ballon d’or a record five times. In just one year he scored a record 91 goals in 2012. Lionel Messi is the best dribbler of all time. He magically gets past four to five players, putting everyone in awe of how he just did that. Messi puts fear into the opposing goalkeepers eyes and coaches can not even game plan for him. In his career, he has scored 499 goals and 201 assist in 629 games. There has never been a player like Messi before, who is just from another planet.

The players with the most goals scored or assist are not always the best players. Players who play with heart and will do anything it takes to win make the top of that list. From reading this, I hope I have sparked an interest to you of watching more soccer and making your own decision of the all time greats.

    1. My blog was about the best soccer players ever and I think I did a good job explaining each one, but I think I could have done a better job explaining why I ranked it the way that I did. I decided to number my list because it was a ranking and really needed it for the audience to understand who I thought was the best. I hope readers understand that everyone can have their own views but they need to support those views in order for it to be credible. I think blogging was a good way to get out how I feel about the topic.
