Introduce Your Persona/Audience

The first post required for your blog is based on the in-class style lessons for steps #1-4, where you  created a distinct core statement, the persona you want to portray and your audience.
Your job is to write 3 paragraphs:

  • In the first paragraph, introduce your topic, including your “core statement” at the beginning of the paragraph.  Then, give some explanation of what you plan to write about here, what angle you will cover and what you hope readers will get/learn from your blog.  What will readers expect to see that is different from other blogs like yours?
  • In the second paragraph, introduce yourself.  Write 3 essential personality traits of your blogging “persona”. Include why you have passion for the topic, what assets make you credible and why you think there is demand for your ideas.  You should also include some details about your writing style and attitude.
  • In the third paragraph, who is your ideal reader?  Use the AUDIENCE preparation in step #4 to write a profile with 4-5 traits you expect from those who would find your ideas interesting.

  1. I believe that being a hostess in a busy restaurant is a stressful but an accomplishing job. Some people don’t understand how hard it really is to be a hostess or work in the food industry. But, a lot of good outcomes can happen when you are a hostess. You learn a lot of communication and quick problem-solving skills that is very useful later in life. I hope that readers come to an understanding of what a restaurant hostess really is all about and how it’s not as easy as it looks.
My name is Sami, and my blog falls into the corporate type of blog. Mostly, my blog consists of talking about jobs or businesses where I sit in the professional arena. This helps engage customers and helps grow the business as well. I have a passion for my job as a hostess and I feel like I have a lot of different things to talk about my specific job. I also like working with people on a daily basis and I like working in an industry where I have to grow my communication and problem-solving skills. I’m a credible source of talking about how a hostess is a stressful job, because I work as a hostess in a fairly busy restaurant. Hostessing can also be an accomplishing job because you learn many different things and how to specifically deal with people in certain situations.
My ideal reader is someone who either is a current host/hostess or someone who is looking to get involved in that job. People who would find my blog interesting would be people who wants to know to the “backstory” of being a hostess. Or just people who are interested in a simple story from my personal experience. Also, readers of my blog can mostly relate to my posts because they’re very common stories or situations that hostess/hosts find themselves in.

    1. Sami, this is clearly written and clearly defined. You have a good sense of representing the job well and who might want to know. Keep this up, as your passion is clear. Good work here. Divide the paragraphs a bit more, just so they are easier to read on the screen. I am excited to hear the stories you have.

  2. I believe that being a server is harder than most people think. I was clueless when I was first hired as a server. It seemed easy. First you get the customers what they desire to drink and then later bring them their food. In this blog I hope everyone who reads really gets to understand that it is much more work than that and not just anyone can do it. I will rant on about how hard work it it, the complaints I’ve got, and all those customers us servers deal with every time we work.
My name is Hunter, and I am a server. At the young age of 18 I got this amazing job as a server. It was perfect. I was going to make a lot of money for doing hardly any hard work. I am loud and bubbly with customers which would be perfect for rolling in the dough, but it is nothing like that. Serving is constant moving, constant dealing with complaints, and never getting a break. Most people have no idea what being a server is like and how hard they work just so you get your food on your table.
Annoyed, hardworking, fellow servers will relate. That is my idea audience. People who will understand what I am talking about and have the experience I do. This blog will also be good for people looking for a job as a possible server.

    1. I like how you use clear evidence and use your own reasoning. I think it's great how you included brief experience with complaints towards you and about the customers. I also like how you include how other servers can relate and connect to this blog post. But one thing I noticed in the first paragraph was how the angle was a little unclear at first. I would just clarify what angle that you'll cover throughout this blog post. But overall I think your audience connection makes this post strong. Also, overall I see clear organization in all three of your paragraphs.

    2. Voice here is excellent. I like that your first impression is far from the truth you've learned as you wait tables...this seems like a good angle to keep in mind for the topic and the future posts. My guess is that most audiences will think this too, until they read your stories. I am excited to see what those tale are. I wonder, should you include the kind of dining you wait at? Maybe not the actual restaurants, but the type of experiences you have as a server and the styles of food you are talking about?

  3. I believe that Lionel Messi is the best soccer player in the world. He has dribbling skills that no one has ever seen before and strikes fear into the opposing team’s goalkeeper. People think Cristiano Ronaldo is the best in the world, but I want to show them the reason why Messi is better. I want people to learn about the things Messi has accomplished, the skills he possesses and the amazing mind he has to make him the best player in the world. You can expect to see a more argumentative side to this that is different from other blogs that just say he is the best. I hope that readers come to an understanding of what makes Messi so great and that he is a better overall soccer player than Cristiano Ronaldo.

My name is Caleb, and my blog falls into the hobby blogger. My blog talks about sports, focusing on a particular subject matter. My topic engages soccer fans on the heated debate about who the best soccer player in the world is. I have a passion for this because I have been a soccer player and fan since the age of four and I just love the game. Playing varsity soccer makes me credible because I know what it means to be a good soccer player and how much work it takes to become great. My writing is persuasive and very enthusiastic towards soccer and will engage the reader.

People who love soccer and even want to start watching the sport can read this blog. They don't need a lot of knowledge about the sport, but just a passion for it just like I do. You can expect to learn a lot about Lionel Messi and also the things that make soccer so great, You can be any age, gender, and education level to read this blog. What makes soccer so great is that it brings cultures together and anyone can enjoy the game. You are not reading this blog to not just see who the best player in the world is, but what makes the game so amazing.

    1. Caleb, this is solid...I like how thorough you are in your description of topic, self and audience. I also like that you have a clear angle in describing your reasons and defending your player. I know both players (although not well), so I am interested to see where this leads.

    Blog Post #1

I will be blogging about atv racing and how I believe Mark Freeman is the best atv racer there is, I believe that through my blog posts I can show that Mark Freeman is the best ATV racer of our time and how ATV racing has become a popular sport. Due to my knowledge of ATV’s I feel I can show readers what is important in buying, maintaining and racing ATV’s.
I myself have been riding atvs since I was little and over the years I have become pretty good at working on them and fixing issues on them that need to be fixed. I can’t think of anything more fun that getting all of my friends together and riding atvs up north on trails. I love working on them, riding them, and putting aftermarket parts on them, so that I can make them faster than when they came from the factory.
People who would enjoy reading my blog would be the same type of person I am. The type of person to read about atvs and learn more about them so they can fix them on their own. To ride one at every second they have to spare. And to the people out there who can’t even get atvs off their minds because they like them so much.
